Understanding Licenses and Activations

License Status Overview

The Licenses, Activations and Pending Orders window displays all your current licenses in a list format. Click any license entry to view detailed information in the lower panel.

Activation Status:

  • If the Seat# field shows a number, your software is activated on this computer
  • The same seat number appears in the Activated Seat# column of the license list
  • The Activate button remains disabled when software is already activated

License Lifecycle

The process follows this sequence:

  1. Create Order: Use the Installing and Ordering window to create and pay for your order
  2. Pending Status: After payment, your order shows as Pending
  3. License Issued: The license provider issues your license and sends it automatically to your computer
  4. Valid Status: Your order changes to Valid once the license arrives
  5. Activation: You can now activate the software on this computer

Automatic Activation: Single-seat licenses activate automatically, so you won’t need to click the Activate button manually.

Using Licenses on Multiple Computers

License Transfer Process

Since PluginInstaller stores minimal data in the cloud for security, you must manually transfer license information between computers.

From the source computer (with the license):

  1. Go to File -> Export License Info…
  2. Save the generated license file

On the destination computer:

  1. Go to File -> Import License Info
  2. Select the license file you transferred
  3. In the Accounts window, enter your Unlock Code (your account password)
  4. Consider checking Save Unlock Code for convenience

Single-Seat License Behavior

With a single-seat license, activating on one computer automatically deactivates the software on all other computers. You can only use the software on one computer at a time.

Helpful Tips

Quick Account Access: Double-click any license entry to jump directly to the corresponding account information in the Accounts window.

Finding Available Seats: If no seats are available for activation, click Find Seat. PluginInstaller will locate and suggest the least recently used seat.

Reusing Specific Seats: To reclaim a previously used seat number (useful when switching between devices):

  1. Enter your desired seat number in the Seat# field
  2. Click Activate
  3. PluginInstaller will reassign that seat to your current computer

Getting Help and Navigation

Status Messages: Important messages appear at the bottom of each window. Always check these for updates or error information.

Hover Help: Most buttons and fields provide additional information when you hover your mouse over them for a few seconds.

Window Help Button: Click the question mark button in the top-left corner of any window to access this help documentation.
